Wendy Leatherberry, Director of Development

Wendy is a development and non-profit professional with more than two decades of experience working with nonprofit organizations. Most recently, Wendy served for five-plus years as the first director of grants and contracts at Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. There she led exponential growth in the organization’s grants-based fundraising. In addition to being a member of the leadership team, she served as a founding member of the organization’s Equity and Inclusion Council. Wendy has extensive political and public policy experience as well as expertise in strategic planning and nonprofit organization.

As a lifelong activist and social justice advocate, she currently serves as an elected member of the Beachwood (Ohio) Board of Education. She holds a masters degree in Urban Studies and a bachelor’s degree in English. When she isn’t causing “good trouble,” Wendy is engaged in her synagogue, Fairmount Temple, and enjoys spending time with her husband, Carl Horowitz, their sons Sam (age 20) and Ian (age 9) and their dogs, Leela (a Boston Terrier mix) and Reena (a pug).
