Safer Sooner Report
SAFER SOONER REPORT
Toward a global binding norm to end violence against women and girls
The need for a treaty on violence against women and girls is rooted in an analysis of the current international legal framework on the problem. Safer Sooner, our first report, identifies gaps in the international legal framework on violence against women and maps how a new treaty would promote and codify a woman’s right to live free from violence. Released February 2020.
The report reflects over six years of research and dialogue with 1,700 women’s rights activists
in 128 countries on the need for a global treaty to end violence against women and girls.
